Installation of wood and multi-fuel stoves in the Stockport and Greater Manchester areas
Purchasing a stove is major decision. Home Fires and Fuels aim to ensure that all of our customers are provided with comprehensive advice and options to ensure that you can make the right choice. We offer a full service, from advice on choosing the right stove to the fitting of the appliance including hearth and fire surround where required.
We work with a small team of friendly local experienced professional HETAS engineers who will come out to your home and advise on the level of work required and provide options for you to consider. This no obligation survey service is free and available to customers across the Stockport, Greater Manchester, Cheshire and High Peak areas.
The installation of a stove, flue liner or major chimney work falls under building regulations (Approved documents J and L). When this work is undertaken by a HETAS qualified engineer he/she will provide the necessary certification required by your local authority. If you do the work yourself or it is carried out by a someone who is not HETAS qualified, the home owner/tenant must gain approval from their local authority building control department. This will involve the payment of a fee (typically £200-£300 and an inspection by the council officer).
Having your stove installed by a HETAS approved engineer means that you can be assured of its safety and compliance with building regulations.
We also provide a fireplace fitting service which may include opening up an existing chimney for an open fire, the laying and installation of a hearth or the fitting of a full fireplace.
